Ram Gopal Varma, an iconic director who redefined the dynamics of Tollywood, is celebrated for his groundbreaking films. After Shiva, he delivered acclaimed movies such as Raat, Sarkar, Rakta Charitra, and Satya. The crime classic Satya, starring JD Chakravarthy, Urmila Matondkar, and Manoj Bajpayee, was recently re-released in cinemas after 27 years, receiving an overwhelming response.

To mark the occasion, RGV shared a heartfelt note on his social media platform, X. Reflecting on the film’s impact, he admitted to being deeply moved while watching Satya nearly three decades after its release. He revealed that the tears he shed were not only for the film itself but also for the journey that followed.

He confessed to having overlooked the countless inspirations Satya had sparked, dismissing it as just another step in his career. He acknowledged being blinded by the success of films like Rangeela and Satya, which led him to pursue shock value, gimmicks, and technical wizardry, forgetting the core essence of filmmaking.

RGV admitted that while some of his later films were successful, they lacked the honesty and integrity that defined Satya. He reflected on losing sight of the meaningful work he had created, likening it to running towards an undefined horizon without appreciating the garden he had cultivated.

The director vowed to honour the reasons he became a filmmaker, promising that every project he undertakes in the future will carry the sincerity of Satya. While he doubted he could recreate the magic of Satya, he emphasised that not even attempting to do so would be a betrayal of cinema.

The confession resonated deeply with fans, many of whom praised his candour and urged him to make a remarkable comeback, proving once again the brilliance he brought to Indian cinema.
