Dude, released last week, emerged as the Diwali winner. Starring Pradeep Ranganath and Mamitha Baiju as the lead pair, the youthful rom-com crossed the Rs. 100 crore gross mark, marking the third consecutive film to achieve this milestone for Pradeep. The film was helmed by newcomer Keerthiswaran.

In a recent interaction, Keerthiswaran talked about Mamitha’s character in the film. It is a fact that audiences are divided over Mamitha’s role as Kural/Kundhana.

Speaking about that, the director said, “When I wrote Mamitha Baiju’s character, I did not want to portray her as an ideal girl, nor did I want to show her in a negative light. It should feel real, like the girls we meet in today’s world and the ones I talk with. This character is sweet, caring, empathetic, and a bit vulnerable.”

Dude also features Sarathkumar in an interesting role. Rohini Molleti, Hridhu Haroon, Aishwarya Sharma, and others played important supporting roles. The film was produced by Mythri Movie Makers, with music composed by Sai Abhyankkar.
