Cinema theater is our mother: Puri Jagannadh shares a touching video

The lockdown amid the Coronavirus pandemic has broken the backs of single screens and multiplexes across the country. Especially, several single screen theaters have been permanently closed, pushing the exhibitors into huge losses.

Even though the central and state governments have given the permission to reopen theaters, lack of strong content and the constant fear of the deadly virus have left the filmmakers, distributors and exhibitors screen only low budget movies that are failing to attract a huge number of audiences.

In this scenario, the Kannada film industry recently released a video which showcases the plight of the exhibitors with mass crowds not thronging theaters and houseful boards not being displayed. However, the video ends on a positive note, showing the audiences again coming back to watch movies in large numbers of course, with the newly implemented COVID-19 guidelines in place.

Sharing the video, director Puri Jagannadh said that he got tears in his eyes after watching it. “Cinema theater is our mother,” he said, and also hoped for the good old days of crowded theaters to return soon.
