Can Sabdham be the next Masooda?

The Telugu horror thriller Masooda, directed by Sai Kiran, was a dark horse at the box office. The film didn’t have more buzz prior to its release, but with glorious word of mouth, it went from strength to strength at the ticket windows and emerged as a blockbuster. Many opine that Masooda is the best Telugu horror film to come out in a long time.

A horror film called Sabdham is hitting the big screens tomorrow, and its situation is more or less the same as Masooda. Headlined by Aadi Pinisetty, the promotional material is pretty impressive, with a unique storyline and intriguing visuals, but there isn’t enough buzz at the moment.

A special screening was arranged for Tamil media, who gave rave reviews for this scary entertainer. Today, paid premieres are arranged in a few select theatres of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Telugu audiences have been craving superior-quality horror movies since a long time, and if Sabdham receives good reports, it can well be the next Masooda.

There isn’t massive competition at the Tollywood box office currently, and hence, Sabdham can cash in on this opportunity, provided the content is effective. Masooda makers were lauded for the sincere portrayal of horror elements without including any unwanted comedy.

It seems like Sabdham also is a true blue horror film sticking only to scary elements. Let’s see if this Aadi starrer can strike gold at the box office. Arivazhagan directed Sabdham and the movie stars Lakshmi Menon, Simran, Laila, M.S. Bhaskar, and Redin Kingsley in crucial roles. Sabdham is jointly produced by Siva and S. Banupriya Siva under 7G Films and AAlpha Frames.
