KGF franchise propelled Sandalwood hero Yash to PAN-Indian stardom. Directed by Prashanth Neel, the KGF series is among the top grossers of Indian cinema. Not only is the franchise commercially successful, but the Rocky Bhai character has also become a cult favorite among Indian audiences. KGF also paved the way for many aspiring Kannada filmmakers to aim higher. In simple words, KGF, backed by Hombale Films, is the Baahubali of Kannada cinema.
In a shocking revelation, Chaluve Gowda, the co-founder of Hombale Films, stated that a big star had rejected KGF. Without revealing the actor’s name, Gowda shared interesting details in an exclusive interview with Hindustan Times.
Gowda said, “We went to a big star for KGF years ago. They asked, ‘Where do these Kannada films even run?’ At that time, not many people knew about Kannada films outside of Karnataka. They knew a few names like Dr. Rajkumar or Puneeth, or (Kiccha) Sudeep. But that was it. That has definitely changed now.”
The hero who rejected KGF must surely be regretting his decision. That actor’s loss is now Yash’s gain. The KGF actor is now acting in another big-budget PAN Indian film, Toxic, directed by Geethu Mohandas, with Kiara Advani and Nayanthara playing other lead roles.
