The North Indian Lord Rama devotees are deeply upset and angry with the way Lord Rama, Goddess Sita, Lord Hanuman, the Demon King Ravan and several crucial aspects of the epic Ramayana were portrayed in Prabhas’ recently released mythological magnum opus, Adipurush. Since yesterday, protests against the movie have been intensified across various cities across North India.
Angry Hindus are demanding an immediate nationwide ban on Adipurush. The protestors even attacked several theaters and stalled the screening of Adipurush. Some even went on to demand strict action against the makers of Adipurush for distorting and demeaning the sacred epic Ramayana. On the other hand, the makers’ attempt to pacify the protestors saying that Adipurush is not an adaptation of the Ramayana but only an inspired fictitious work seems to have not found any takers.
Prabhas was loved by all the North Indians for his dual roles in the Baahubali franchise. But going by the ongoing protests, it’s unfortunate that a non-controversial pan-India star like Prabhas has landed himself in unnecessary controversy. It remains to be seen whether the actor will decide to address the protestors in the coming days or continue to maintain silence on the entire fiasco.
