Zootopia 2 has delivered a historic moment at the China box office by smashing a record that stood unchallenged since Avengers: Endgame (2019). The superhero film previously held the crown with a single-day haul of about $97.5 million, but Zootopia 2 raced past it by collecting over $100 million in a single day. This achievement marks a groundbreaking milestone for the animated feature in the Chinese market.
Globally, the film is off to a remarkable start and is expected to cross 520 million dollars in its first weekend as the theatrical run picks up pace. Its strong momentum across major territories has placed it among Disney’s most successful recent releases, driving commercial excitement and drawing consistent audience support worldwide.
Directed by Jared Bush and Byron Howard, the sequel follows Judy Hopps (rabbit cop) and Nick Wilde (fox cop) as they team up with newcomer Gary De’Snake (reptile criminal-informant), while fan favourites Chief Bogo (buffalo police chief) and Bellwether (sheep ex-villain) return in pivotal roles. With music by Michael Giacchino, Zootopia 2 is also playing in India in major languages, including Telugu, where it is posting steady numbers.
