As Akhanda 2 Gets Postponed, Here Is What You Can Watch on OTT and in Theatres This Weekend

The much-awaited Telugu film Akhanda 2: Thaandavam, starring Nandamuri Balakrishna in a triple role, was supposed to release today but has been postponed for undisclosed reasons. Fans are upset, as many expected it to be their weekend entertainer. With its delay, several viewers are unsure of what to watch, so we have you covered. Here are the films and series releasing on OTT and in theatres this weekend.

Theatrical Releases

Dhurandhar:

This Ranveer Singh-starrer is an action-packed thriller based on real incidents. It releases today in theatres, and the early expectations and bookings look positive. The A-rated film features Sara Arjun as the female lead and is directed by Aditya Dhar. Sanjay Dutt, Akshaye Khanna, R. Madhavan, and Arjun Rampal are part of the ensemble cast.

Kalamkaval:

Mollywood Megastar Mammootty’s new movie Kalamkaval is a Malayalam crime thriller, with the star playing a character with negative shades. It releases today in cinemas, including limited screenings in Telugu states. Newcomer Jithin K. Jose directs the film, which is produced by Mammootty himself. The buzz is decent and the box office performance is awaited.

OTT Releases

Plenty of titles are available to watch this weekend. Here is the list:

The Girlfriend:

Rashmika Mandanna’s female-oriented love drama, directed by Rahul Ravindran, is now streaming on Netflix in major Indian languages including Hindi. Dheekshith Shetty plays the male lead. The OTT response is highly anticipated.

The Great Pre-Wedding Show:

This Telugu entertainer is now streaming on ZEE5. It stars Thiruveer and Teena Sharma, with Rahul Srinivas directing. The OTT reception is expected to be better than its theatrical response.

Jatadhara:

Sudheer Babu’s supernatural thriller Jatadhara is now available for streaming on Amazon Prime Video in Telugu. A Hindi version may arrive later but there is no update yet. The film, directed by Venkat Kalyan and Abhishek Jaiswal, was a major box office failure. Sonakshi Sinha and Shilpa Shirodkar appear in prominent roles.

Kuttram Purindhavan-The Guilty One:

This crime thriller stars Pasupathy, with Lakshmipriyaa Chandramouli and Vidaarth in key roles. Directed by Selvamani, the Tamil series is also streaming in Telugu on Sony LIV.

Stephen:

This Netflix original Tamil psychological thriller stars Gomathi Shankar and is directed by Mithun Balaji. Produced by JM Production House, the film is also available in Telugu and other regional languages.

Gharwali Pedwali:

Gharwali Pedwali is a Hindi supernatural comedy series now streaming on ZEE5. The cast includes Jeetu Pandey, Seerat Kapoor, Latika, Paras Arora and others. Only three episodes are currently available, with more to be added later. Ashish Khurana directs the show.

Dhoolpet Police Station:

Aha’s latest Tamil original is Dhoolpet Police Station, an investigative thriller directed by Jaswini Jay. The core cast includes Ashwin Kumar Lakshmikanthan, Guru Lakshman, Padini Kumar, Sreethu and Preethi Sharma. The show contains fifty episodes, with a new episode dropping at 7 PM every Friday starting December 5, 2025. A Telugu version is also confirmed for the convenience of Telugu audiences.

This Hindi documentary explores a century of social, political and cultural events tied to the RSS. It is anchored by Nitish Bharadwaj and is streaming on ZEE5, currently only in Hindi.
