August kicks off with a wave of theatrical releases to excite audiences who enjoy the immersive big-screen experience. From star-driven Hindi films to major titles in Telugu, Tamil, and Malayalam, this month brings a wide mix of genres and languages. Here’s a look at the key releases.

Sir Madam – August 1

Vijay Sethupathi and Nithya Menen reunite in this film, originally released in Tamil as Thalaivan Thalaivii. It opened to decent reception last week and now arrives in Telugu as Sir Madam. The local response is eagerly awaited.

Son of Sardar 2 – August 1

Released as a birthday special for Mrunal Thakur, this Ajay Devgn-starrer shares its name with the earlier Son of Sardaar but is not a sequel. With moderate buzz, the film’s performance will depend on audience word-of-mouth.

Dhadak 2 – August 1

Releasing alongside Son of Sardar 2, this youthful romantic drama is a Hindi remake of the Tamil film Pariyerum Perumal. Starring Triptii Dimri and Siddhant Chaturvedi, the film is directed by Shazia Iqbal.

Coolie – August 14

Superstar Rajinikanth returns in Coolie, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj. With Telugu star Nagarjuna playing a prominent role and Asian Suneil Narang handling Telugu distribution, the film enjoys pan-India anticipation.

War 2 – August 14

Jr NTR makes his Bollywood debut opposite Hrithik Roshan and Kiara Advani in this Ayan Mukerji-directed YRF actioner. The hype is massive, and its box office clash with Coolie on the same day adds further intrigue. Naga Vamsi owns the Telugu rights.

Paradha – August 22

A straight Telugu release, Paradha is directed by Pradeep Kandregula and stars Anupama Parameswaran, with Darshana Rajendran and Sangitha in supporting roles. The film explores layered women-centric narratives.

Sundarakanda – August 27

This feel-good Telugu drama stars Nara Rohit and is directed by Venkatesh Nimmalapudi. It’s expected to appeal to audiences looking for emotionally grounded storytelling.

Hridayapoorvam – August 28

Malayalam superstar Mohanlal leads Hridayapoorvam, directed by Sathyan Anthikad. With a teaser that touched hearts for its simplicity, this emotional drama has already created strong anticipation.

Revolver Rita – August 29

Keerthy Suresh returns in this female-centric Tamil crime comedy, which also releases in Telugu. After a few commercial misfires, this is seen as a key comeback film for her.

Param Sundari – August 29

Originally scheduled for July 25, 2025, Param Sundari was delayed due to Saiyaara’s success. Now hitting cinemas on August 29, 2025, the film stars Janhvi Kapoor and Siddharth Malhotra, and is directed by Tushar Jalota. It is backed by Maddock Films and carries solid expectations.

Additional titles this month include Usurae (August 1), Bakasura Restaurant (August 8), and possibly Mass Jathara starring Ravi Teja, which is currently scheduled for August 27, 2025, but may be postponed.

We’ll be back soon with updates on more theatrical releases across languages. Until then, which one are you heading to the cinemas for?
