Swapna Cinemas, known for backing fresh and unique stories, has teamed up with Zee Studios, Anandi Art Creations, and Concept Films for Champion, a period sports drama. The film is headlined by talented young actor Roshan, while Malayalam star Anaswara Rajan makes her Telugu debut. National Award–winning director Pradeep Advaitham is leading the project.

In a major update, the makers announced the return of Nandamuri Kalyan Chakravarthy, who was popular in the 80s and last appeared in Chiranjeevi’s Lankeswarudu. After turning down several offers over the years, including one from Yevade Subrahmanyam, he finally agreed to come onboard for Champion because he connected deeply with the script.

Kalyan Chakravarthy plays Raji Reddy, a realistic and important character that adds weight to the story. His first-look poster shows him in an intense, aged avatar, standing against a colourful festive backdrop, hinting at an important moment in the film.

Promotions have begun with the release of the first single, Gira Gira Gingiraagirey, composed by Mickey J Meyer. Ram Miriyala’s lively folk vocals and the fresh pairing of Roshan and Anaswara Rajan have already garnered positive response. Champion is scheduled to hit theatres worldwide this Christmas, on December 25.
