Bajrangi Bhaijaan is undoubtedly one of the most loved films in Salman Khan’s career. Even Salman’s critics were left highly impressed by his portrayal of Pawan Kumar Chaturvedi. The film’s story was penned by legendary writer Vijayendra Prasad, father of director S.S. Rajamouli. At the box office, the emotional drama emerged as a mega-blockbuster, earning over Rs. 900 crores globally.
Over the years, there have been multiple reports about a sequel to Bajrangi Bhaijaan. As the memorable film is set to complete 10 years on July 17, director Kabir Khan sat down with Pinkvilla for an interview. He made it clear that he and Salman Khan don’t want to spoil the legacy of Bajrangi Bhaijaan by attempting an ordinary subject.
Kabir Khan said, “We have definitely spoken about Bajrangi Bhaijaan 2. In today’s day and age, when all franchises are doing well, we are being careful with Bajrangi Bhaijaan 2 because we don’t want to make a sequel to the most popular film of the last two decades just for the sake of it. Salman and I are in complete agreement that we need to find a story as exciting as Bajrangi Bhaijaan.”
He added, “We don’t want to make a film just to cash in on the legacy of the first part. In my entire career, I have never followed the sequel route, but I know the kind of joy Bajrangi Bhaijaan 2 can bring to audiences. I would love to direct Bajrangi Bhaijaan 2, but for the right reasons and not the wrong ones. I don’t want to do it for box office numbers, but to do justice to the legacy of a cult classic like Bajrangi Bhaijaan.”
