Nandamuri Balakrishna and Boyapati Sreenu’s Akhanda 2 is scheduled to hit the silver screens on December 5, 2025, in 2D and 3D formats. Produced by Raam Achanta and Gopi Achanta under the banners of 14 Reels Plus, the movie is presented by M. Tejaswini. Samyukta, Aadi Pinishetty, and Harshaali Malhotra played key roles. Ahead of the release, producers interacted with the media, and here is the transcript.
How did Akhanda 2 begin?
We produced Balakrishna garu’s Legend, and it became a big hit before the 2014 elections. Similarly, we wanted to make a film with Balayya garu before the 2024 elections, but because of the uncertainty around the polling dates, that project didn’t move forward. Hence, we joined forces for Akhanda 2.
The film was shot in multiple locations. What kind of challenges did you face?
We shot the film at Kumbh Mela. To shoot there, we need to take multiple permissions. Fortunately, we were allowed to shoot with drones as well. Whatever you see in the film is specifically shot for Akhanda 2, and we haven’t used any stock shots. Boyapati garu worked very hard to translate his vision onto the screens.
Were you planning to release Akhanda 2 at the PAN India level right from the beginning?
Yes. We were particular about the PAN India release right from the word go. However, we haven’t forcefully included any elements to please audiences of other languages. Akhanda 2 content genuinely has the potential to please global audiences. There are many goosebump-inducing moments. Whatever you expect from Boyapati garu, the film delivers much more than that.
Compared to Akhanda, the action dosage seems to have increased in Part 2. What about it?
Lord Shiva means mass. Like how powerful Shivathaandavam is, the action part in Akhanda 2 will be equally impactful. The way we used Trident will leave audiences in awe, and no filmmaker has utilized it to such an extent.
Could you tell us about Samyukta and Poorna’s characters?
Samyukta garu isn’t playing a typical heroine. She plays a pivotal role in the narrative. Coming to Poorna garu, her role will be a continuation from the first installment.
We heard the film is all about Sanatana Dharma. How does it feel to highlight that aspect now?
We believe it is the USP of Akhanda 2. Apart from Sanatana Dharma, the film also deals with belief and devotion. In Akhanda, Boyapati garu clearly communicated that Lord Shiva will interfere if enemies target children and our temples. Akhanda 2 precisely explores the same topic.
