Bellamkonda Sai Sreenivas is coming up with the mysterious horror thriller Kishkindhapuri. Anupama Parameswaran plays the female lead, while Kaushik Pegallapati directed it. The film is produced by Sahu Garapati under the Shine Screens banner.

The promotional content has received a good response. The movie is set to release on September 12. Ahead of the release, Bellamkonda Sreenivas interacted with the media and here’s the transcript.

How was it doing a horror film for the first time?

I always wanted to do films that audiences enjoy. Mostly, they turned out to be mass commercial entertainers. But personally, I like such different films a lot. When I met director Kaushik, we spoke about this, and he narrated Kishkindhapuri story. I really liked it. We aimed to give a great experience to audiences.

Did you watch the film?

Yesterday, I watched the film in theatres for the first time. It came out superbly, especially the sound. Sound designer Radhakrishna, who worked on Salaar, Animal, and Kantara, designed the sound for our film. It’s phenomenal. It’s a new genre that blends horror and mystery. We presented it technically in a superb way.

Could you tell us about producer Sahu Garapati?

Director Kaushik came with a strong story. But usually, films in this genre face budget limitations. However, Sahu Garapati Garu wanted to give the best to the audience and made the film without compromising on technical quality or visual effects. He gave us everything that the film required.

How will be the action part in the film?

The action is organic to the story itself. The film is made entirely in that flow. In terms of visual effects and sound, the audience will feel a strong thrill. I’ve never seen a horror film with such a strong storyline. It’s a rare thing. This is a blend of horror and mystery. It will give the audience a seat-edge experience.

Do you like horror films?

Personally, I like horror films. I enjoyed films like Kanchana that our production did. Even in my teenage years, I loved horror films. Kishkindhapuri too will be thoroughly enjoyed by teenage audiences. Because of the horror factor, the film received an A certificate. The censor board members themselves said it’s been a long time since they saw such a serious horror film. It really made us happy.

Tell us about your upcoming films

Tyson Naidu’s shooting is finished and is now in post-production. Haindava is in its final stage of shooting. It would’ve been completed by now if not for the strike. Both these films are different in their own way. Also, I will be doing a project with Polimera director Anil. It’s going to be a new-age thriller.
