National Award-winning Sandalwood actor-director Rishab Shetty’s Kantara Chapter 1 is wiping out several existing box office records and is setting new milestones. With a whopping Rs 828 crores plus gross, Kantara Chapter 1 has already become the highest-grossing Indian movie of the year so far by surpassing Vicky Kaushal’s Chhaava.
Kantara Chapter 1 has now set a glorious record in Karnataka. The fantasy drama has entered the Rs 250 crore club in Karnataka, becoming the first Kannada film to amass such a humongous collection in the state.
Kantara Chapter 1 is expected to beat Allu Arjun’s Pushpa 2: The Rule record of Rs 256 crore gross in Maharashtra to emerge as the all-time second-highest-grossing Indian movie in a single state. With a staggering Rs 330 crore gross in Maharashtra, Chhaava continues to rule the leaderboard.
Kantara Chapter 1 also features young beauty Rukmini Vasanth in a lead role, while Vijay Kiragandur produced it under the Hombale Films banner. Ajaneesh Loknath is the film’s music composer.
