Squid Game Season 3, the final chapter of the globally acclaimed series, is now streaming on Netflix, including its Telugu version. With expectations running high after a lukewarm second season, this installment arrives with the promise of redemption and a meaningful conclusion. But does it truly deliver? Read on to find out.

Story:

Season 3 begins exactly where Season 2 left off. Gi-hun (Lee Jung-jae) is haunted by guilt, convinced that the bloodshed was his doing. But the deadly game is far from over. Among the new batch of players is Jun-hee (Jo Yuri), a pregnant woman determined to survive against all odds. Her bond with her female co-contestants adds emotional depth to an already brutal environment. Meanwhile, the ruthless Front Man (Lee Byung-hun) brings the VIPs back into the fold, twisting the games further to serve their cruel entertainment. As new challenges unfold, players are pushed to confront their morals, instincts, and fears. With betrayal lurking at every step and no one truly safe, who will outlast the final round? And when the last game ends, will it really be over? Watch Season 3 for answers.

Plus Points:

After Season 2’s misfire, the creators bring the series back on track with well-designed games, better pacing, and stronger emotional beats. The opening Hide and Seek game sets the tone well. It stretches across the first two episodes without losing interest, effectively blending strategy, suspense, and betrayal.

The Jumping Rope challenge, which involves players crossing a swinging bridge, is a standout. It is intense, fast-paced, and visually gripping. Emotional tension is woven into the gameplay, pushing the narrative forward in meaningful ways.

The final game in the season, where players must make personal decisions about elimination, adds newness and depth to the series. It brings betrayal, fear, and desire together, making the climax both unsettling and powerful.

The final twist is something most viewers will not see coming. While some may find it slightly disappointing, others will appreciate the surprise and emotional payoff. A moment toward the end revives the excitement just when it feels like everything has ended.

Performances are strong across the board. Lee Jung-jae delivers a composed and emotional act. Jo Yuri stands out as the vulnerable yet strong Jun-hee, while Kang Ae-sim leaves a lasting impression. Supporting actors also do well, bringing depth to the ensemble.

Minus Points:

Despite several improvements, a few areas still fall short. The subplot involving the detective, played by Wi Ha-joon, feels underdeveloped and disconnected from the main narrative. It comes across more as a filler than a meaningful thread.

Episodes five and six also suffer from sluggish pacing, and combining them into a single, tighter episode could have strengthened the momentum.

Additionally, some characters lack proper development, and a few of their exits fail to deliver the emotional impact they deserve.

Technical Aspects:

Director Hwang Dong-hyuk handles the story with more clarity and control this time. The storytelling is balanced and much more focused than the previous season. The cinematography is excellent, capturing both brutality and emotion with visual sharpness. The music effectively maintains suspense throughout. The Telugu dubbing is smooth and does not take away from the original emotion or tone.

Verdict:

On the whole, Squid Game Season 3 delivers a gripping and emotionally charged finale that restores much of what made the series a global phenomenon. The games are smartly crafted, the emotional beats land more often than not, and the story rarely loses steam. While it doesn’t quite reach the brilliance of Season 1 and leaves some character arcs underexplored, it stands as a meaningful and well-executed redemption after the stumble of Season 2. Fans of the series will find plenty to absorb, and first-time viewers may still find themselves pulled into the high-stakes drama. Just when it seems like the game is over for good, the final moments deliver a twist that flips everything on its head. The rules have changed, but the game is far from done. The ending doesn’t close the door – it quietly unlocks a new one. Wait for it!
