Thug Life marked the collaboration between the legendary duo Mani Ratnam and Kamal Haasan after three long decades. Shockingly, the film failed to meet expectations and crashed completely at the box office. Netizens are mercilessly trolling the actor and director for delivering such a dud.
Young Telugu director Phanindra Narsetti, famous for the Madhuram short film and the full-length feature film Manu, has now lashed out at netizens who are criticizing Mani Ratnam and Kamal Haasan. While promoting his upcoming movie, 8 Vasanthalu, the director stated that people should have specific eligibility to judge such iconic personalities.
Phanindra Narsetti said, “Everyone is entitled to express their opinions. However, I firmly believe we should have a specific eligibility before commenting about others. After Thug Life’s release, people are now teaching Mani Ratnam how to make films. A random moviegoer is now educating a legendary director like Mani Ratnam, who has been in the industry for 40 years.”
The filmmaker added, “Someone who followed Mani Ratnam’s filmography closely and admired him for a long time definitely has the right to criticize. Only they will be able to know that pain. But people who don’t even have proper knowledge are passing comments. Hence, I used the word ‘Eligibility’ here.” Phanindra Narsetti’s comments are drawing adverse reactions from netizens at the moment.
