When the Kannada animation film Mahavatar Narsimha was released, it initially flew under the radar, but the tide turned the very next day. As the first film in the Mahavatar Cinematic Universe (MCU), directed by Ashwin Kumar, it quickly packed theaters and became a box office sensation.

The movie went on to make history at the box office, grossing over Rs. 220 crore, with more than Rs. 170 crore coming from the Hindi market alone. With no star cast or big backers, the film pulled off this remarkable feat, attracting audiences in droves even after the release of two biggies – War 2 and Coolie.

Now, all eyes are on Mahavatar Parshuram, the next installment in the cinematic universe. Movie lovers are chomping at the bit to see it, but they will have to wait until 2027.

Speaking about filming, director Ashwin Kumar spilled the beans, revealing that the project is already in pre-production and shooting is expected to kick off around November 2025.

Meanwhile, fans are eagerly awaiting Mahavatar Narsimha’s OTT release. Word on the street is it may stream in September 2025 on Jio Hotstar.

Kleem Productions is handling the project and going all out on VFX, building on the success of the first installment in the MCU. Hombale Films presents the entire cinematic universe.
