Renowned South Indian playback singer and character artist, Manikka Vinayagam (73), took his last breath on Sunday. He has been suffering from cardiac-related issues for many days. He has died of a heart attack in Chennai.
He was the son of dancer Vazuvoor B Ramaiah Pillai and singer CS Jayaraman is his uncle and music teacher.
Manikka Vinayagam sang more than 800 hit songs in his entire life. ‘Happy Happy Birthdaylu’ from Suswagatham and ‘Pattu Pattu’ from Shankar Dada are a few of his notable Telugu songs.
Tamil and Telugu film industries are shocked with the news about his sudden demise and many actors have offered their deep condolences to the veteran singer.
