Venky gets it right. Almost!

Bodyguard has the right content. It is the context that is questionable. The issue is not a 50+ hero romancing a 30+ heroine. This has been done before. Kevin Costner warmed up to Whitney Houston in Bodyguard. Richard Gere paraded his charms to an even younger prostitute played by Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman. But in all these movies the context was set. Costner is an ex-secret service agent. While Richard Gere is a divorced business man on a night out in Hollywood Boulevard. In Venky’s Bodyguard this context is missing. And whatever is there appears to be a force fit. The same is the case with Salman’s Hindi Version too. But Salman has attitude to walk over pot-holed sized logical craters. He is the bad boy you root for. Venky on the other hand is renowned to do the right thing. He makes clean entertainers. And as the week progresses there will be many people who will question the entertainment value in the Trisha & Venky love saga. But the director in an interestingly woven climax irons out the wrinkles to a great extent. That could very well be the saving grace.
