A few years ago, director Shankar Shanmugham announced a project titled Aparichit with Ranveer Singh and Kiara Advani in the lead roles. Pen Studios was supposed to bankroll this film, which was intended to be the Hindi remake of Shankar’s cult blockbuster Anniyan. However, the project has now been shelved.
Shankar’s commitment to Pen Studios wasn’t fulfilled, and it now seems that the Bollywood production house has come forward to produce the director’s long-cherished dream project, Velpaari. Shankar is currently working on Velpaari’s pre-production, and he aims to take the film on floors in June 2026.
All eyes are now on the protagonist, and cinephiles are wondering who will take on the lead role, especially since Shankar isn’t in great form lately. Also, it appears that Velpaari will be a multi-part saga, meaning the lead actor will have to dedicate a significant amount of time. Amid back-to-back flops, which hero will trust Shankar?
