Telugu actor Nithiin has stumbled again at the box office with his latest release, Thammudu, which opened just two days ago to disappointing reviews. Directed by Venu Sriram, the film features Laya, Varsha Bollamma, Swasika, and Sapthami Gowda in crucial roles. Unfortunately, weak execution, an unengaging screenplay, and a flat storyline have made it an underwhelming watch on the big screen.
The film’s performance on BookMyShow reflects its lukewarm reception – just 12.4K tickets were booked in the last 24 hours. For a film in its opening weekend, that’s underwhelming.
In stark contrast, the two-week-old Kuberaa, starring Nagarjuna, Dhanush, and Rashmika Mandanna, continues to hold strong. Released on June 20, 2025, the film has officially entered its third week, and it managed to sell 16.5K tickets on BookMyShow in the same 24-hour period – outperforming Thammudu by a fair margin.
This clearly signals that Thammudu has failed to click with audiences. Despite fans’ hopes, the film shows signs of vanishing from theatres much sooner than expected.
Meanwhile, attention is now turning toward the OTT release of Kuberaa, directed by Sekhar Kammula. Stay tuned for an official announcement from the team.
