Tollywood’s Friday releases disappoint at the box office

This Friday saw three releases at the Tollywood box office: Paradha, Meghalu Cheppina Prema Katha, and Bread Butter Jam. Among the three, Paradha is the only notable film, featuring Anupama Parameswaran in the lead role and directed by Cinema Bandi fame Praveen Kandregula.

Paradha was intended to highlight women empowerment and shed light on superstitions, but the film received mostly mixed to negative reviews from critics. Small-budget films like this rely heavily on positive reviews to gain momentum, but that didn’t happen, resulting in a low turnout.

Meghalu Cheppina Prema Katha, headlined by Naresh Agastya and Rabiya Khatoon, caught the attention of movie buffs when Prabhas promoted it on social media. However, the film failed to impress critics and, therefore, has little chance of leaving a mark at the ticket windows.

Bread Butter Jam is the Telugu-dubbed version of the Kollywood movie Bun Butter Jam, which is also heading toward a washout. The film neither features prominent actors nor were Telugu audiences aware of its release. After the underperformance of Coolie and War 2, the woes continue for exhibitors, with very little hope left for redemption.
