Thug Life and HHVM OTT release plans locked, but it’s not all good news for fans

June 2025 is shaping up to be one of the most exciting months for Indian cinema, with two heavyweight films ready to entertain audiences at the box office. On one side, we have Kamal Haasan’s Thug Life, a stylish action drama directed by Mani Ratnam. On the other, Pawan Kalyan gears up for his much-awaited period epic Hari Hara Veera Mallu: Part 1 – Sword vs Spirit, helmed by Krish Jagarlamudi and Jyothi Krishna.

Both films have already created massive buzz with their aggressive promotions, grand scale, and star power. But there’s another update fans need to know — the OTT release timelines are locked in.

As per the multiplex regulations in North India, any Hindi-language film released in major chains must maintain an eight-week gap before it premieres online. Since both Thug Life and HHVM are targeting a wide pan-India audience and are releasing in multiple languages including Hindi, they’ll follow this rule.

So, don’t expect the films’ Hindi versions to drop on streaming platforms in the first month. Their digital debuts will happen only eight weeks after their theatrical release, which might be a slight letdown for Hindi audiences hoping for a quicker OTT arrival.

On the streaming front, the deals are already sealed — Thug Life will be available on Netflix, while Hari Hara Veera Mallu will stream on Amazon Prime Video.

With Thug Life hitting screens on June 5, 2025, and Hari Hara Veera Mallu following on June 12, 2025, all eyes are on how these two biggies will perform, both critically and commercially.
