Director Gunasekhar announced an interesting mythological magnum opus, Shaakuntalam, yesterday. The film is based on the epic tale of love from the Adi Parva of the Mahabharata.
Meanwhile, ever since the announcement, there has been a strong speculation that star heroine Anushka is being considered for the titular role in Shaakuntalam. However, Gunasekhar is yet to make a formal announcement regarding the film’s lead cast.
In the past, Anushka had played the titular role in Gunasekhar’s ambitious historical drama, Rudhramadevi. Stay tuned for more details about Shaakuntalam.
