Nithiin’s latest outing Thammudu has opened to negative reviews all over. With each film, Nithiin’s box office pull is declining significantly. The action drama, directed by Venu Sriram, earned less than Rs. 1 crore share in the Telugu states on the opening day. However, it’s not Nithiin but Dil Raju who is facing the heat for Thammudu’s poor performance.
The ace producer, once hailed for his sharp judgment in script selection, has been missing the mark with almost every recent film. It was Dil Raju who aggressively hyped Thammudu in promotional interviews. He claimed the film would mark a perfect comeback for Nithiin after a series of flops and even promised that it would offer a solid theatrical experience.
However, audiences who watched the film are calling it atrocious in almost every aspect. Dil Raju had even planned paid premieres for Thammudu on Thursday evening. Netizens and movie buffs are now questioning how he thought of scheduling paid premieres for a film like this.
Barring Sankranthiki Vasthunam, nearly every film produced by Dil Raju in recent years has bombed at the box office. Speaking about Game Changer’s failure, Dil Raju stated that he didn’t have full control over the project, which led to an inflated budget and disappointing output.
As for Thammudu, it was helmed by Sri Venkateswara Creations’ in-house director Venu Sriram. Reportedly, over Rs. 70 crores were spent on the emotional action entertainer, yet the film failed to recover even 10% of its budget on opening day.
With a string of back-to-back failures, all eyes are now on Dil Raju’s upcoming projects. The producer must reassess his script choices and plan budgets more wisely. Can Dil Raju regain his Midas touch? Only time will tell.
