The latest and surprising OTT update is that James Gunn’s Superman (2025), featuring David Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan, will be available for streaming from August 15. Director James Gunn took to social media and wrote, “Superman is coming to your homes this Friday, 8/15 (August 15). Available for pre-order. Or catch it while it’s still in theatres.”
According to The Wrap, Superman will be available for online streaming on Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV, and Fandango at Home. On the other hand, physical copies of the superhero film in 4K UHD, Blu-ray, and DVD editions will be available in stores from September 23.
The movie, which was released on July 11, earned $581 million worldwide, including $332 million from the USA and Canada. Superman is now the seventh-highest-grossing film of 2025. However, its performance in international markets didn’t meet expectations.
The early digital release has indeed sparked outrage among fans. They opine that this decision will affect the film’s long run significantly. A netizen wrote, “Why so early?! Shameful and stupid decision. Superman is still running so strong in theatres and had a lot of box office potential left. Stuff like these damage the theatre-going culture.”
