Aamir Khan is gearing up to entertain audiences with his upcoming comedy sports-drama Sitaare Zameen Par. The movie is scheduled to hit the big screens on June 20, 2025. Unfortunately, there is zero buzz around this biggie as of now. Interestingly, Aamir Khan’s previous outing, Laal Singh Chaddha, and Sitaare Zameen Par share many similarities, amounting to low hype.
Both are remakes of foreign films, which is the biggest reason for the poor anticipation. Laal Singh Chaddha was the official adaptation of the Hollywood classic Forrest Gump. The English film was regarded as a classic because of Tom Hanks’ memorable performance, something which Aamir failed to recreate.
Also, the original film lacks entertainment, and hence, Laal Singh Chaddha was seen as a film targeted only at a niche audience. Due to these reasons, Laal Singh Chaddha opened on a poor note and ended up being a disaster at the ticket windows. Coming to Sitaare Zameen Par, it is the remake of the Spanish film Champions (Campeones).
The original version is now available on OTT. As soon as Sitaare Zameen Par’s trailer was dropped, trolls started on social media comparing it to the parent film. Many opine that Aamir Khan’s acting at the moment lacks charm. A song was released recently, but it has also met with poor response.
Though there is no direct connection between Taare Zameen Par and the latest film, the Bollywood actor is trying to cash in on the IP (Intellectual Property) advantage. However, that also isn’t working in favor of Sitaare Zameen Par. Aamir now needs to do something extraordinary to turn the tables. Otherwise, Sitaare Zameen Par may open below the double-digit mark at the box office.
