King Nagarjuna and Ram Gopal Varma’s Shiva, released in 1989, is regarded as one of the greatest Indian films of all time, redefining Indian cinema into the ‘Before Shiva’ & ‘After Shiva’ eras. The movie was produced by Annapurna Studios, backed by producers Akkineni Venkat & Surendra Yarlagadda. Marking ANR’s 101st birth anniversary today, the re-release date was revealed by Nagarjuna.
He said, “My father always believed cinema had the power to live beyond generations, and Shiva was one such film. Bringing it back to the big screen on 14th November in a completely new avatar of 4K Dolby Atmos is a tribute to his dream of keeping stories alive forever”.
Directed by Ram Gopal Varma, this iconic cult-classic Telugu film will hit the big screens in stunning 4K and an immersive Dolby Atmos sound, which has never been done for any re-released film before. The sound of ‘Shiva’ has been completely remastered from the original mono mix to the latest Dolby Atmos using the most advanced AI technologies.
Shiva not only fearlessly broke the norms of its day, but also introduced a cutting-edge sound design to Indian cinema. With the new technical enhancements in the re-release, RGV says, “I can’t wait for people to watch the film to have a completely new experience due to the enhanced sound never experienced before”.
