Recently Kollywood had two biggest hits in the form of Vikram and Ponniyin Selvan 1. The latest blockbuster, Jailer starring Rajinikanth, is on its way to erasing the box office records set by these two films. But all these films didn’t succeed in tapping the Hindi market effectively.
Ponniyin Selvan 1 collected around 30 crores nett through its Hindi version, but Vikram and Jailer couldn’t make their mark at the North India box office. Though these films are the biggest blockbusters of Tamil cinema, the collections from the North Indian market are quite underwhelming. Only 2.0, which was released a few years back, collected a whopping 200 crores nett from the Hindi market, but other films didn’t make noise in the Hindi belt.
Now all the eyes are on Thalapathy Vijay’s action entertainer Leo which has a PAN Indian appeal. This Lokesh Kanagaraj directorial boasts a massive cast, and if it is promoted well, it will open big in the Hindi market too. However, the long run depends solely on the content. Trisha is the leading lady while the film is being produced by SS Lalit Kumar of Seven Screen Studio.
