Super Star Rajinikanth’s Petta, directed by young filmmaker Karthik Subbaraj, is one of the most eagerly awaited films this season. Until now, Petta was slated to hit screens during the upcoming Sankranti season.

However, if the latest buzz in Kollywood circles is anything to go by, Petta’s makers are planning to not release the film for Sankranthi. Since Rajini’s 2.0 is hitting theaters on November 29, Petta’s makers felt that releasing their film within a gap of less than 45 days might create confusion among fans. But these are mere speculations and we will have to wait until an official announcement is made by the makers.

In Petta, Rajini will be seen in two different avatars. The film also features popular stars like Vijay Sethupathi, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Trisha, Simran, Megha Akash and others. Sun Pictures is bankrolling this high budget entertainer.
