Coolie

The much-anticipated action drama Coolie, headlined by Superstar Rajinikanth and directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, is just 10 days away from its grand theatrical release. At the Telugu press meet held today, Rajinikanth surprised fans by releasing a special video message, spoken entirely in Telugu. In it, he expressed heartfelt admiration for Akkineni Nagarjuna’s role as Simon, the film’s primary antagonist.

Rajinikanth revealed that when director Lokesh first described the character of Simon, he was instantly captivated and expressed a desire to portray the role himself. However, he was taken aback when Lokesh shared that he had already envisioned Nagarjuna as Simon. Despite some initial doubts about whether Nagarjuna would agree, Lokesh remained confident, assuring Rajinikanth that he would convince him “at any cost.”

The Superstar, who is reuniting with Nagarjuna on-screen after a gap of 33 years, was full of praise for his co-star. “He still looks just as fit and youthful as he did decades ago,” Rajinikanth remarked. Curious about the secret behind Nagarjuna’s ageless appearance, he asked him directly, only to be told that it was the result of regular exercise, a disciplined diet, and “some good genes from my dad.”

Rajinikanth was especially effusive about Nagarjuna’s performance as Simon. “He portrayed the character so brilliantly that I honestly don’t think I could have done it better,” he admitted. The mutual respect and camaraderie between the two veteran actors are evident and have only heightened anticipation for their on-screen reunion.

Coolie also features an impressive ensemble cast including Upendra, Aamir Khan, Sathyaraj, Shruti Haasan, and Soubin Shahir. Produced by Sun Pictures, the film’s music is composed by Anirudh Ravichander.
