The Telugu Film Producer’s Council election has come to a thrilling finish just a while ago. KL Damodar Prasad aka Damu (Ala Modalaindi producer) of Dil Raju’s panel has won the President post by defeating senior producer Gemini Kiran of C Kalyan’s panel with just 24 votes. While Damu got 339 votes, 315 votes were polled in favor of Gemini Kiran.
However, Dil Raju’s panel has lost several key Executive Committee posts to C Kalyan’s panel. Senior director-producer YVS Chowdary (362 votes) and senior producer T Prasanna Kumar (378 votes) of C Kalyan’s panel have won the Hon’ble Secretary posts. On the other hand, Bharath Chowdary (412 votes) of Dil Raju’s panel has won the Joint Secretary post along with producer Natti Kumar (Independent) who received 247 votes.
This election was taken quite seriously by both the warring factions, as there has been a heavy anti-incumbency wave against the current President C Kalyan for allegedly delaying the elections and also mishandling of his power during his tenure.
Senior Tollywood producers like Dil Raju, Mythri Movie Makers’ Ravi Kiran, Tagore Madhu, Sravanthi Ravi Kishore, Ashwini Dutt, Naga Babu, Posani Krishna Murali, C Kalyan and around 1,200 members exercised their vote in the polling that lasted till 4pm today.
