Bollywood stars Sidharth Malhotra and Janhvi Kapoor’s soon-to-release romantic comedy, Param Sundari, has landed in an unexpected controversy. Several Christian and Malayali groups in Kerala are reportedly upset with the portrayal of certain objectionable visuals in the trailer.
As per the latest updates, a few members of the religious group have moved the CBFC, Mumbai Police, and I&B Ministry over a romantic scene shot inside a church in the trailer. The protesting members have demanded the authorities to censor the “indecent” shots from the movie, which is gearing up for its release on August 29.
The protesting members have also filed an FIR against Param Sundari producer Dinesh Vijan of Maddock Films and also warned of protests if the controversial scenes were not removed from the theatrical version of the film.
Param Sundari’s stereotypical portrayal of Malayalis and Kerala has also irked several Malayalam-speaking people. “Is it so hard to find a Malayali to play the role in a Hindi movie? Are we less talented?” alleged popular Malayalam actress Pavithra Menon.
