OTT Surprise: Sikandar outperforms HIT3 in Netflix global charts

In the past ten days, Netflix has rolled out a trio of star-driven films: Salman Khan’s Sikandar, Nani’s HIT 3, and Suriya’s Retro. Among the three, Sikandar and HIT 3 have emerged as major talking points, drawing strong attention from global audiences.

Netflix recently released its Top 10 list of trending movies and series for the period between May 26 and June 1, 2025. According to the data, Sikandar claimed the third spot in the global non-English films category, with HIT: The Third Case following closely in fourth place.

What’s surprising is that Sikandar, a film that didn’t fare well at the box office and was released only in Hindi, managed to outperform the theatrical blockbuster HIT 3 in terms of streaming hours.

During the given period:

Sikandar logged 11.4 million streaming hours with 5.1 million views.

HIT 3 registered 10.8 million streaming hours with 4.2 million views.

However, it’s important to consider the timing. HIT 3 debuted on Netflix four days after Sikandar, and the data includes performance only up to June 1, just two days after HIT 3 began streaming. Given that, the Nani-starrer is still gaining traction and is expected to climb higher in the days to come.

Meanwhile, Sikandar’s strong digital response has turned heads, proving once again that OTT platforms play by a different set of rules. What underperforms in theaters can still shine online.

On the other hand, Suriya’s Retro received a response similar to its theatrical run. It stands in seventh position with 6.9 million streaming hours and 2.5 million views.
