This year, Bollywood star actor Akshay Kumar delivered one of the finest courtroom dramas in Indian cinema with Kesari Chapter 2. Akshay played Sir Chettur Sankaran Nair, the prominent lawyer who played a crucial role in India’s fight against colonial oppression. Kesari 2 showcases the courtroom battle that happened after the Jallianwala Bagh massacre.
Directed by Karan Singh Tyagi, the film also featured Madhavan and Ananya Panday in key roles. The critically acclaimed movie is now available for streaming on Jio Hotstar in Hindi audio along with English subtitles. The theatrical window is eight weeks, a norm followed by Bollywood films.
Bowled over by the film’s story and screenplay, Tollywood actor Rana Daggubati bought the Telugu rights and released the dubbed version in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. As of now, there is no info about the digital release of the Telugu version. At the box office, Kesari Chapter 2 (Hindi version) performed decently, earning about Rs. 90 crores nett in India.
Regina Cassandra, Simon Paisley Day, Amit Sial, and others played supporting roles. The biggie was jointly bankrolled by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions, Leo Media Collective, and Cape of Good Films.
