Indian filmmakers have been turning to mythological tales and stories of the gods, many of which have become major hits. The latest addition to this trend is Mahabharat – Ek Dharmayudh.

Directed by Lavanya, this ambitious 100-episode web series is entirely created using AI (artificial intelligence), and the first episode premiered last night on Jio Hotstar.

While the trailer initially faced backlash, netizens who have watched the series are now impressed with the content and the effort put in by the makers. The AI-powered epic features stunning visuals, consistent quality, and well-executed Hindi lip sync. Many viewers have praised the team for their ambitious goal of reimagining the mythological epic Mahabharata through modern technology.

The first episode, which runs for less than 20 minutes, is available in seven Indian languages, including Telugu. It focuses on King Shantanu’s love story with the goddess Ganga and their marriage, which comes with a strict condition imposed by Ganga.

Jio Hotstar will release new episodes every Saturday, and viewers who prefer to watch on television can tune in to Star Plus every Sunday at 7:30 PM.

The series is produced by Vijay Subramaniam, Pinky Reddy, and Sudeep Lahiri, with screenplay and dialogues by Krishna Omveer Ponia.
