Ram Gopal Varma recently revealed an interesting detail about his 2002 cult gangster film Company. The maverick filmmaker shared that the role of Malik, which was eventually played by Ajay Devgn, was initially offered to Shah Rukh Khan.
Varma said he had even met SRK to discuss the project but realized after one meeting that their creative visions did not align. He then decided to cast Ajay Devgn, who perfectly fit the character’s intensity and depth.
The film, also starring Vivek Oberoi, went on to become a landmark in Indian cinema for its realistic portrayal of the underworld. RGV is now back in Mumbai making Hindi films.
