Nithiin’s flop streak continues – High time to reflect, realign, and rebuild

Nithiin’s latest film Thammudu hit theatres today with some expectations, but the initial response hasn’t been encouraging. Directed by Venu Sriram, the film opened to mixed and mostly negative reviews. Early box office reports also suggest that it may not bring in the numbers it was hoping for. Sadly, this is not a one-off case but part of a pattern that has been building over the past few years.

Since Bheeshma in 2020, which was a clear hit, Nithiin hasn’t had a proper success in theatres. Films like Check, Rang De, Macherla Niyojakavargam, Extra Ordinary Man, and Robinhood have all struggled at the box office. Some of them had decent ideas or big banners backing them, but the execution didn’t land well with the audience. The repeated results speak for themselves and show the gap between intent and impact.

At this stage, Nithiin doesn’t need to chase image or stardom. He’s already proved his talent and screen presence. What he needs now is to be more selective about the scripts he signs. Picking stories that are fresh, grounded, and emotionally honest can help him connect again with the audience.

It might also help to work with directors and writers who can bring something new to the table rather than relying only on familiar names. A thoughtful shift like that can put him back in the game stronger than before.
