Ever since the film hit the screens as a Diwali treat, Tamil superstar Vijay’s Mersal has been mired in a series of controversies. Several BJP leaders have been targeting the film and Vijay for the dialogues criticizing Modi’s ambitious GST and Digital India campaign.
On the other hand, Mersal got unanimous support from fans and the entire film fraternity. Legendary actor Kamal was one of the firsts to express solidarity with Mersal. And here comes the biggest surprise.
Last night, Super Star Rajinikanth took to Twitter and tweeted, “Important topic addressed… Well done !!! Congratulations team #Mersal”. Rajini’s tweet has given a huge boost to Mersal’s fight for the right to FOE and keeping dirty politics at bay.
Also, Rajini’s timely support for Mersal is being seen as a blow to the BJP, which has been trying relentlessly to woo the Super Star to join their party since 2014.
