Telugu actor Mahesh Babu has landed in legal trouble after the Ranga Reddy District Consumer Commission issued notices to him on July 7, 2025. A Hyderabad doctor alleged she was misled into investing Rs. 34.8 lakh in a non-existent plot promoted by Sai Surya Developers. She claimed Mahesh Babu’s endorsement gave the fraudulent scheme credibility, leading to financial loss.

In April 2025, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) summoned Mahesh Babu in connection with a money laundering case involving Sai Surya Developers and the Surana Group. The actor had allegedly received Rs. 5.9 crore, partly in cash, for endorsing their projects. The ED is examining whether this money was part of funds laundered through the scam.

The case is part of a larger investigation into real estate fraud schemes worth over Rs. 100 crore. While Mahesh Babu is not currently named as an accused, his role as a brand ambassador has come under scrutiny.

Despite the controversy, he continues to shoot for his upcoming film SSMB 29 with SS Rajamouli, Priyanka Chopra, and Prithviraj Sukumaran.
