There wasn’t much buzz around the Tamil film Bad Girl initially, but one teaser changed everything. Featuring Anjali Sivaraman in the lead role, the film is directed by Varsha Bharath and jointly produced by Vetri Maaran and Anurag Kashyap.

The teaser was released ahead of its premiere at the International Film Festival Rotterdam. However, it quickly sparked controversy, with many accusing the film of misrepresenting the Brahmin community. The protagonist wants to live life on her own terms, including in intimate matters, and people have taken issue with the way a Brahmin girl is portrayed.

Thanks to the teaser, the movie has gained significant free publicity. The latest update is that Bad Girl will hit the big screens on September 5, clashing with Sivakarthikeyan’s Madharasi. The censor formalities have already been completed, and the CBFC has granted this controversial film a U/A certificate.

Since the censor formalities have been wrapped up, all decks are cleared for Bad Girl’s release. Unless there’s a change from the makers, the movie will hit the big screens on September 5. Bad Girl also stars Shanthi Priya, Saranya Ravichandran, Hridhu Haroon, TeeJay Arunasalam, and Sashank Bommireddipalli in key roles.
