A few days ago at IFFI 2025 in Goa, Ranveer Singh mimicked Rishab Shetty’s performance from Kantara: Chapter 2 and referred to Chamundi as a “female ghost” while copying the scream from the film. The act backfired, and Kannadigas called him out for mocking their belief and demanded an apology.

Ranveer, who is currently promoting his film Dhurandhar, took to Instagram today and addressed the issue. He wrote:

“My intention was to highlight Rishabh’s incredible performance in the film. Actor to actor, I know how much it would take to perform that particular scene in the way that he did, for which he has my utmost admiration. I have always deeply respected every culture, tradition and belief in our country. If I’ve hurt anyone’s sentiments, I sincerely apologise.”

The reaction to his apology is still unclear, and it remains to be seen if the community will cool off and move on.
