The makers of Tamil star Suriya and star heroine Pooja Hegde’s upcoming romantic action drama, Retro, unveiled the much-awaited Kannullona song from the Telugu version’s audio album. The song is composed by acclaimed Tamil music director Santhosh Narayanan with minimal yet soothing orchestration.
Kannullona is a touching, melodious love song featuring Suriya as a prisoner who sings the song as he longs for the love of his life. The makers rightly captioned Kannullona as “a song for your caged souls.” The lyrical video features both behind-the-scenes and final footage of the song. Popular lyricist Kasarla Shyam has penned the poignant lyrics, while playback singer Kapil Kapilan breathed pain and longing into the song with his soulful rendition.
Retro is directed by acclaimed Tamil filmmaker Karthik Subbaraj and produced by Suriya and Jyothika under their 2D Entertainment banner. The film is scheduled to open in cinemas worldwide on May 1 in Tamil and Telugu languages.
