When Rajinikanth was going through a dull phase in his career, it was Jailer that brought his glory back. The action drama, directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, went on to gross over Rs. 600 crore globally and is one of the biggest hits in Tamil cinema. The sequel, titled Jailer 2, is now in production.
Today, at a press interaction, Superstar Rajinikanth announced, “We are planning to release Jailer 2 on June 12, 2026. The shooting has been going very well.” It is being said that the entire production will be wrapped up by December or January, allowing sufficient time for post-production work.
Produced by Kalanithi Maran of Sun Pictures, the big-ticket entertainer features music by Anirudh Ravichander. Shiva Rajkumar and Mohanlal will reprise their roles from the first installment. There is no official confirmation about the rest of the cast.
