Telugu movie lovers, especially those in Hyderabad, were overjoyed when news broke that IMAX would be making a comeback in the city. The excitement began when Asian Cinemas head and producer Suniel Narang recently confirmed that IMAX would return to Hyderabad within the next two years, rekindling a dream that fans had held onto for over a decade.
However, that excitement was short-lived. Preetham Daniel, Vice President of IMAX Corporation (India), released an official statement that poured cold water on the hopes of fans.
In his clarification, he said, “The recent reports that IMAX is partnering with Asian Cinemas to bring an IMAX location to Hyderabad are entirely false. While IMAX is in conversation with multiple exhibitors about bringing IMAX to Hyderabad, no agreement is currently in place. IMAX is eager to expand into Hyderabad and will continue to proactively seek opportunities to do so.”
Following this statement, many disappointed fans took to social media to express their frustration. For now, the dream of enjoying the grand IMAX experience once again in Telugu states remains out of reach. But there’s still hope — and moviegoers are keeping their fingers crossed for a positive update in the near future.
