Hollywood biggie set for a strong start in India

Tom Cruise reprises his iconic role as Ethan Hunt in Mission: Impossible—The Final Reckoning, the much-anticipated eighth chapter of the blockbuster franchise. There are massive expectations around the biggie. Its predecessor, Dead Reckoning, earned Rs. 106 crore nett at the Indian box office. The Final Reckoning cleared the censor formalities with a U/A rating. The action-packed thriller has a confirmed runtime of 2 hours and 49 minutes.

While the release is scheduled for May 23 in the USA, the Hollywood big-ticket entertainer arrives in India on May 17. The bookings kicked off a few days ago, and looking at the momentum, Mission: Impossible—The Final Reckoning is set to record the best advances for the franchise in India. According to a report in Pink Villa, the action thriller has sold 66,000 tickets in national chains so far.

The movie is expected to sell over 1,50,000 tickets in PVR-INOX and Cinepolis by the end of tomorrow. The previous film in the franchise sold 1,25,000 tickets for the opening day in national chains. Going by the advances, the film will collect anywhere between Rs. 17 crores nett and Rs. 20 crores nett, which can be termed a superb start. The long run will be dependent on the audience’s feedback.
