Chakda ‘Xpress, starring Anushka Sharma in the lead role, is a biographical film based on the life of former Indian cricketer Jhulan Goswami. A successful right-arm medium-fast bowler, Goswami served the national team for nearly 20 years. The film went into production in 2022, but it has yet to see the light of day.
Although it was initially announced for release on Netflix, there have been no significant updates since then, leaving fans increasingly impatient. In an exclusive interview with News18, Bollywood actor Dibyendu Bhattacharya, who plays a significant role alongside Anushka Sharma revealed that he is just as confused as the audience eagerly awaiting the film’s release.
He stated, “You don’t know how badly I’m waiting for the film to release because it is a fantastic film. I watched it at director Prosit’s place. I asked him to show it to me. He said it wasn’t completely finished, not everything had been done, but I watched it, and it is such a beautiful film. It is the best performance of Anushka Sharma to date. I don’t know why they are not releasing it. I want it to be released immediately.”
The movie is backed by Clean Slate Filmz, a production house headed by Anushka’s brother, Karnesh Sharma. Last year, speculations surfaced online that the production house’s partnership with Netflix had ended, resulting in the delay.
Reports suggested that Clean Slate Filmz might repurchase the film from Netflix and explore other platforms for release. Only time will tell whether or not this biographical film will be released.
