The ongoing theatre issue in the Telugu states is drawing significant attention. Reports suggest that exhibitors approached the industry’s top four producers, urging a shift from the current rental-based revenue sharing model to a percentage-based system. Allegedly, the producers advised the exhibitors to initiate a theatre shutdown, a move that reportedly did not sit well with the Andhra Pradesh government.
Fans alleged that producers deliberately targeted Pawan Kalyan’s Hari Hara Veera Mallu by calling for a theatre strike. In response, producer Dil Raju held a press conference today, clarifying that he is not among the four producers involved. He stated, “Many are indirectly dragging my name into this. Honestly, no one has the guts to stop Pawan Kalyan Garu’s film.”
He further explained, “We don’t close the theatres generally. In my 30-year career, I have never seen cinema halls being closed. When issues arise, we may halt shootings, but we never shut theatres. This entire situation has been misconstrued by the media. I have already explained the matter clearly to AP Cinematography Minister Durgesh Garu. We have many releases lined up in June and July.”
