Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone is currently shooting AA22xA6, directed by Atlee and starring Allu Arjun. She recently made headlines after stepping away from two major Telugu projects, the sequel to Kalki 2898 AD and Spirit, both featuring Prabhas in the lead.
After receiving a lot of negativity for her decision, the Jawan actress addressed the issue in her latest interview with Harper’s Bazaar. Deepika clarified that her exit from the two films was not related to remuneration or schedule. She said, “It’s not about Rs. 100 crore or Rs. 500–600 crore films anymore,” making it clear that the scale of a project no longer influences her choices.
She also spoke about the demanding nature of large productions. “Sometimes people offer a lot of money and think that’s enough, but it isn’t,” she explained. Emphasising the need for a healthier work environment, Deepika added, “Eight hours of work a day is enough. Only when you’re healthy can you give your best.”
Her comments show that she stepped away from the Prabhas films to prioritise her wellbeing and choose work that aligns with her current values rather than their commercial potential.
Triptii Dimri has been brought on board for Spirit, while the makers of the Kalki 2898 AD sequel are yet to announce who will replace Deepika. Further updates are awaited.
