In 2023, maverick filmmaker SS Rajamouli announced a movie titled “Made In India” based on the life of Dadasaheb Phalke, the Father of Indian Cinema. Varun Gupta (Max Studios), SS Karthikeya (Showing Business), and director Nitin Kakkar have been working on the prestigious project for the past few years. A few months ago Bollywood media reported that Tollywood star actor Jr. NTR will play the lead role in this biopic.
Though an official confirmation about Jr. NTR’s presence is yet to be made, the news has gone viral all over. However, according to a recent report in Mid-day, the project has been put on hold due to the star actor’s busy schedule. It will at least take another couple of years for Jr. NTR to complete his existing commitments, and hence, that is said to be be reason for the delay.
The biographical film is set against the backdrop of India’s independence struggle and will chronicle the extraordinary journey of the man who laid the foundation of Indian cinema. Interestingly, Hindi cinema legends Aamir Khan and Rajkumar Hirani are also working on the same biopic, which will most likely hit the screens first.
